Saturday In The Park – July 4, 2015
Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Sioux City’s Saturday in the Park Festival is pleased to announce the headliners for the 2015 event, which marks its 25th year on July 4.
Aretha Franklin, presented by Great Southern Bank, and Foster The People will headline the outdoor music festival, event co-founder Dave Bernstein announced Thursday. “This year’s headliners are tremendous, and collectively cover the wide range of SITP fans’ musical interests. Aretha Franklin and Foster the People are both well known for incredible recorded music and awesome live shows. This year, like each of the past 24, will be all about top notch live free music.”
Gogol Bordello and North Mississippi Allstars also will perform on the main stage, along with three other bands to be announced at a later date.
This day of music, arts and fun will take over Grandview Park, 24th and Grandview streets in Sioux City, on Saturday July 4, from noon to 10:30 p.m.
The Saturday in the Park Festival was founded in 1991 by Bernstein and Adam Feiges. This free music festival draws tens of thousands of people to Sioux City each July 4th weekend. The event has grown through the years, and is almost entirely volunteer driven and community sponsored.
In addition to a line-up of world class artists, the 25th Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Saturday in the Park Festival will also feature the return of Arts Alley, the KCAU Kids Zone, some of the best festival food anywhere, and two beer gardens. The festival wraps up with a fireworks finale that continues to impress year after year.
Fishbone, the legendary ska/punk band from Los Angeles, will headline the 2nd Stage at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino’s Saturday in the Park Festival on July 4.
The 2nd Stage, typically a destination to showcase local and regional acts, will feature nine bands from Noon to 8 p.m
“Fishbone is a legendary act, and we are very excited to continue a high level of entertainment on the 2nd Stage. We are looking forward to an amazing show.” said Jason Reinert, SITP Committee member and 2nd Stage organizer.
Fishbone will anchor a line-up featuring other diverse national artists such as Duenday, an electronic and jam band from Minneapolis, Los Angeles rock n’ roll group King Washington, as well as several great local acts. The full 2015 2nd Stage schedule is as follows:
